Get Good Motorcycle Tyres

If you ride a motorcycle then you will no doubt understand the importance of having great motorcycle tyres on your vehicle to make the most of your experience. I believe that people in the states actually call them motorcycle tires rather than tyres so if your in the states you now know what I am talking about. Your tyres are the very thing that connects you to the road when you are riding around on the fine highways of the world so obviously failure to make an investment in quality rubber is a mistake for anyone who values the experience of riding a motorbike.

I doesn't make any difference what you like to use your motorcycle for, it might simply be a commuting vehicle for you or you could in fact be into racing motorcycles on the track your rubber matters. It one of those things that you can ignore when you aren't used to the difference made buy increasing the quality you use. Like, some people will ride around on a Honda CB500 all their life and not understand what they are missing. Now, don't get me wrong the CB500 is a fine motorcycle just like most tyre manufacturers produce decent tyres but taking a step up and getting something that suits your riding style and what you want to get out of the experience really pays dividends.

The fact is that if you are riding around on motorcycle tyres which aren't as good as they should be then you are missing out on extra fun, safety and performance. If you bought a bike second hand with part worn tyres on it then buy better quality motorbike tyres is a relatively cheap way to take your riding to a whole new level.

Things to think about regarding your existing tyres

Even if you are going to continue to use your existing tyres rather than buy new ones there are a few things you can do to make things better. First off you want to check the air pressure for your tyres according to the manufacturers specifications. Remember that the air pressure in your tyres is affected by the surrounding temperature so if you take your bike out in winter the pressure will increase when you get out on the road and heat the tyres up.

Although getting new tyres is a great way to enhance the handling of your motorbike it isn't exactly essential unless you tyres are getting to the stage where they are bordering on the dangerous with regard to the amount of tread that is left on them or the fact that they are starting to crack. Regularly check for uneven wear and unsmooth surfaces on your tyres and replace them if you find anything unusual.

When you are going out for a ride always ensure that you warm up your tyres properly taking your machine to the limit of your capabilities. Motorcycle tyres don't perform to their max when cold and you'll find their handling is impaired which can result in the rider finding themselves head first in a hedge without warning. You'll get to know through experience when your tyres are at a good operating temperature and how far you can safely push at the beginning of a journey.

When To Change A Motorcycle Tyre

Discount Tyres

Motorcycle tyres seem to wear away at a rapid rate for those of us who use our bikes on a regular basis and ride hard when we are doing so. With motorbike tires (mixing up my spelling to keep my American friends happy) not being a particularly inexpensive product many of us prefer to purchase cheap items to keep our overall costs down.

Although there are a great range of tyres available and you can find discount items all over the place I always like to spend a little extra just because I believe you get what you pay for and for me the better performance is worth a little extra cost. Manufacturers to pay particular attention to when trying to find motorcycle tyres would be Bridgestone, Pirelli, Dunlop, Michelin and Metzeler.
